I AM KATERINA


COGNITIVE NEUROSCIENTIST, DANCE TEACHER, DANCER


I am a post doc researcher at the Department of Neuropsychology and Psychopharmacology in the Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience of Maastricht University.


I am investigating the cross-domain influence of musical rhythmic training on rhythm perception in language comprehension.


My advisors are professor Sonja Kotz of the BAND-LAB and professor Alexander Sack of the Brain Stimulation and Cognition group. My training is in linguistics, computational linguistics and the neurobiology of language. I am fascinated by the brain, language, music, dance, rhythm.

WHAT I DO

Research

In my research I investigate language in the brain, and specifically speech rhythm perception.

Dance

I teach dance with my newly found company Dance, Movement, & Breathing. I also perform with the dance company Les Impromptues.

Science Communication

I am passionate about science communication, and give science talks to the public.
